Located in Cumming, Iowa, Ted Lare/Design-Build provides landscape architectural services to Des Moines and surrounding areas. Founded in 1982, our company presently provides landscape architectural designs, complete construction and installation, and maintenance services to commercial, residential and public projects. We carry a complete inventory of plant material, hard material goods (i.e. stone), and we have the people with the expertise to create and construct almost anything imaginable. We incorporate native species of plants, perennials, and stones in our landscaping and water feature designs. Designs We presently design landscape plans for residential, commercial and public projects. Each design we create is based on your needs, wants, and dreams. We will then consider each aspect of a design such as the general flow of movement, moisture and drainage issues, spring and fall color sequence, textures, existing plantings, and heights of plants in creating your landscape design. We can create very simple to very complex plans which may include factors such as driveway layout, deck designs, pool shapes, and overall circulation through your property. Each factor of the plan is designed to relate to all other elements and blend with the house. We strive to incorporate hardy and low maintenance materials in each and every plan in order to ensure you with the plants and materials that will last for years to come. Installation We have 17 landscaping crews to install your design. Our landscape crews have had years of experience installing landscapes across Des Moines and surrounding areas. Each crew specializes in one area of installation whether it is retaining walls, path and patio construction, water features, planting or maintenance. Our crews know that attention to detail is very important and strive to create each design with total perfection.

Spring Maintenance: Shape, trim and prune shrubs Cutback grasses to 3-4" above the ground (new growth will be unobstructed) Remove prior years growth on perennials and daylilies Check and readjust tree stakes if necessary Re-edge planting beds Re-apply weed preventer Top dress (new layer of mulch) Replacing plants which did not survive the winter Note: If you are interested in our spring maintenance services, we recommend that you contact our office to be placed on a schedule. Lawn Care Maintenance: Mowing & Fertilization We offer several lawn care services in order to keep your lawn healthy & beautiful throughout the summer months. Our lawn care services include: Mowing Power edging & trimming Lawn fertilization Spring Maintenance: Our spring maintenance services are performed March through May each year. Enlisting in our spring maintenance service will promote plant growth, plant health and will make your landscaping & yard beautiful for the summer. Our spring maintenance services include: Edging planting beds Removing old plant growth Weeding, Trimming of shrubs & trees Applying a weed preventer Applying a new layer of mulch

Landscaping and Yard Maintenance: We also offer on going maintenance services throughout the year, on a daily, weekly, semi-monthly, monthly basis or as needed. We also offer services such as watering when our clients are on summer vacations. Services for on-going maintenance include: Planting of annuals Watering of plants Weeding of planting beds Water Feature: Maintenance Services: As a premier & long-term builder of water features in central Iowa, we have the expertise to maintain your water feature. Our water feature maintenance services include: Spring clean-up & start-up of water features Winter shut-down of water features Installation of water plants & koi fish Treatment & removal of algae Water feature chemical applications Trimming of shrubs, trees & perennials Dead-heading of perennials & annuals Party preparation & general yard clean-up Other services as requested

Suggestions: • Purchase a watering wand • With wand attached to the end of hose, water base of plant • Water thoroughly • Do not over water evergreen trees • Keep in mind, plants on the south side of a building will receive more sun and will need more water than those on the north General: • Water two times per week for the first two weeks after planting and then once a week

Aquatic Maintenance: Suggestions: • Keep a close eye on your pond or stream for algae growth • Make sure your pond or stream is on a routine maintenance schedule, which includes using one of the maintenance products listed below • Be cautious when using materials to maintain your pond, too much or too little of these products may aggravate your pond and/or stream conditions • Store aquatic maintenance products in a cool dry place Maintenance Products: AquaClearer • This product will reduce sludge, surface scum and naturally clear green water. • Do not pour the whole bottle in at once, rather spread the applications out through many small dosages. • In order to keep your pond looking clean and beautiful you should follow label directions, keeping in mind that chemical is needed more in the spring and fall, or cooler weather. Apply 1 ounce per 1000 gallons, 1 to 2 times per week in the spring and fall, and once a month in the summer. LakePak • This product is an intense concentration of bacteria which competes with algae for nutrients that lead to algae blooms. It will improve water clarity, quality, and reduce methane and sulfide odors. It should especially be used at startup. • Every pond's application rate is different due to pumps, filters, number of fish, etc. In order to keep your pond / stream looking pure and delightful you should apply one LakePak every month. Watering Guidelines for Specific Plants: Large Deciduous Trees • 3-5 minutes at full stream • The length per tree will vary, watch when water emerges to the surface and no longer soaks in Deciduous Shrubs • Two times per week for one minute Junipers • One good soaking per week Yews • Once a week in a mulched bed Perennials • 20-30 seconds two to three times per week • Some perennials will need more water than others, watch for wilting • Perennials are very fragile plants, always water from the base Ground Covers • Three times per week or every other day
